Sunday - EAST Lincolnshire Arts notched up a success last Friday when a capacity audience at the Imperial enjoyed Ratatat Theatre Company's production of Happy Jack by John Godber.
This was the sequel to September in the Rain which the company presented last year and which featured the same cast.

We share the ups and downs of Jack and Liz (Dominic Goodwin and Stephanie Preacher) who live in a mining community and what was so unusual about this play was the fact it was in reverse order and starts with the death of Liz followed three years later by Jack and the story then takes you back in time. This was a very gritty two hander play laced with humour and pathos presented in a sketch type style .

The comic timing of the two characters and their ability to step into other roles as they recounted the story of their life together had the audience laughing one minute and almost crying the next.

The play was based on the lives of John Godber's family and was written with his usual observations of people and events.

Amongst those attending were the Mayor and Mayoress Coun Ken and Mrs Milner

The next ELA event is on Saturday July 26 when Kate Witney will be appearing at the Burgh W.I Hall at 7.30pm
