EDITOR - I am soon to be a former resident of Skegness, having lived here for 18 years.
I am disappointed with how stuck in the past the resort has become. All that has happened on the foreshore is to make room for McDonalds, a bigger carpark for the Embassy which was upgraded to accommodate two more fun pubs, and a skate park to accomm
odate kids, which could not be any further away from Grand Parade.
The town is overrun by charity shops, local residents have to go out of town for the bigger stores for clothing, household goods, etc.
I personally failed to receive a questionnaire recently sent out by East Lindsey District Council and would quite willingly have given my opinion.
It seems to me that changes happen in Skegness if it benefits the council and not the people of Skegness. I frequently use the seafront for cycling.
I heard once the council claimed you could cycle all the way from Skegness to Ingoldmells on the seafront.
I assure you that this is untrue. There is a section from the North Parade carpark to the north end of North Shore golf club that is unclear for walking, nevermind cycling.
You have to go along St Andrews Drive and Roman Bank for a distance and then rejoin the seafront at Winthorpe, and as there is no cycle paths, our safety is put at risk on the busy roads.
I agree with J Vale (Letters September 24) that the people of Skegness are not listened to, it is sad to see a top resort like this, deteriorate so much over the years.
