EDITOR - I went to see my mother at the Phoenix Care Centre in Chapel St Leonards yesterday, and was relating how lovely it will be to see the carnival this year again.

She enjoyed it so much last year, along with the other residents, they talk about it for weeks afterwards.

One of the carers said 'there isn't going to be a carnival' - apparently, there is a problem having it on the green because of the recent
upgrade, therefore, they are not allowing the carnival to take place!

I understand the reasoning, that is why the Phoenix Care Centre said 'you can hold the carnival here', so typical of the Phoenix as they always think of others.
Each year the procession makes its way around Chapel and always ends the occasion at the Phoenix, where it makes so many people happy.

Not only are the residents affected, but also all the people who make their way each year to see the carnival, this creates money for the village and enjoyment for all.
Why has a person/group of people been allowed to stop such an important event as this? If it's all down to money, the local people are the ones losing out!

The Phoenix Care Centre is two minutes away from the centre of Chapel St Leonards, and people would have made their way there without any problem.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would want to take the pleasure out of so many people's lives, including the people in the carnival.

The carnival is the highlight of the year for many. Thank you to those who decided not to have the carnival - I hope you have a conscience!
