Editor – I volunteered my time and energy to help the X-Fest.
I was helping on the kite flying area on the Friday and running a beach tag rugby event on the Saturday.
Over 50 members of the public took part in the beach tag with ages ranging from six to 60. I was really impressed by some of the kids who kept on coming back through the day to play another game.
Without this festival they would not have enjoyed this experience. I have read the complaints and realised that Skegness did not support this event wholeheartedly.
East Lindsey District Council is faced with parts of Skegness becoming dead zones. Events like this need to be supported more to increase the image of Skegness in general.
Instead of local businesses complaining about a drop in trade they should become involved and make a profit.
This event has been running for a number of years now and grows in stature and strength every time. Skegness and the local economy needs to ride the wave and promote itself with these types of events.
