EDITOR - While applauding town councillors' decision to support a protest to London about Post Office closures I do have one major concern. On the back of this protest will be their full publicity machine, including the Jolly Fisherman, promoting Skegness and to lobby Mayor of London.
This I strongly believe will take media attention away from campaigners.
Del Claxton has fought tirelessly to maintain Sea View Road Post Office. Along with his many supporters, and anyone else with similar views, they are now being given the opportunity to make their feelings known to Parliament.
When Skegness Hospital Watch delegation went to London over the closure of Scarbrough Ward we had one objective - to protest about NHS cuts and how they were affecting lives of people in this town and surrounding area. A meeting with Mark Simmonds MP, vociferous rally outside Downing Street and a petition handed-in to number ten, gave Skegness positive national and international coverage.
I say forget about Boris and instead focus on the needs of Skegness residents and many other people in similar situations around the county.
