Friday, 5.05pm - HELICOPTER flights from Skegness Airfield have been supported for the summer by Skegness Town Council's management committee.

At Easter Sky Charter helicopters did a trial of pleasure rides from the southern forshore ahead of an application to deliver rides permanently in the town.

The application was turned down by East Lindsey District Council following complaints by residents about noise and disturbance, although council officers who checked noise levels said they were not unacceptable.

Sky Charter contacted Skegness Airfield organisers who were keen to allow them to operate from their base near Ingoldmells.

The proposed flight path will mean the helicopter will fly from the airfield over Ingoldmells to the sea, out to Chapel St Leonards, back over the sea towards Winthorpe and then inland to the field.

Skegness councillors supported the proposals until October at which point they suggested a review should be carried out with which they would be involved.
