Wednesday, 4.25pm - THE newly restored Lincolnshire Poacher is on display outside the Hildred's Centre as the Royal National Lifeboat Institute gears up to celebrate Lifeboat Day on Saturday.

The model, which is a third of the size of the original built in 1992 has been on display all week.

Deputy centre manager at the Hildred's Steve Andrews and other staff have restored and refurbished the boat.

Mr Andrews said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for members of the public to see the model lifeboat close up. We hope it will raise even more money and meet its £1 million target over the next few years."

On Saturday, a joint operation between the RNLI and the RAF will see a training exercise off Central beach at Skegness.

The RAF Sea King helicopter will visit from RAF Lecconfield to practice winching and rescues as part of Lifeboat Day.
