Monday - IT was the first home game of the season for the Bulls who started strongly against Metheringham.
East Coast Bulls 3 v Metheringham 1
The midfield trio of Charlie Thein, Thomas Ford and Jay Wolstenholme controlled the game well and, with striker Devon Ainscow causing problems to the visitors' defence, it looked like the first goal would not be long.
But for all of their attacking, the Bulls were still looking for the breakthrough 20 minutes in. They had corner after corner, but the defence of Metheringham was outstanding.
Frustration was beginning to set in, and Metheringham started to turn defence into attack. Metheringham's forwards were strong and quick, and Bradley Towers and Cory Streeton in the Bulls' defence had to battle to keep them out.
Then Ainscow won a penalty which he fired with a powerful left foot drive but, somehow, the keeper managed to save it.
Just as the pressure reached breaking point, a snap shot from Thein from inside the area caught a wicked deflection beating the keeper.
The second-half started like the first with Metheringham defending brilliantly, but they were still dangerous on the break, and it was Metheringham who scored next.
With time ticking away Mason Warren Wilson, Nile Graves, Brandon Bola and Callum Osbourne, for his first start of the season, came on to try and change things.
But it was Bradley Towers who got the lead back for the Bulls, after he managed to squeeze his shot pass the keeper making it 2-1.
With the game coming to a close a long clearanceb from Metheringham's defence found Cory Streeton on the half way line. He let fly with an unstoppable shot over the keeper's head into the net.
With seconds to go Metheringham had one last chance with a thunderbolt of a shot that hit keeper Jordan Fairbrother's cross bar.
Man of the Match: Cory Streeton.
Team: J Fairbrother, B Towers, C Streeton, J Wolstenholme, C Thein, T Ford, B Bola, D Ainscow, N Graves, M Warren Wilson, C Osbourne
