Monday - SATURDAY saw Spilsby take on a strong Coningsby side who are going well at the top end of the premier division.

As recent results for Spilsby have been disappointing this fixture was always going to be a tricky one.

Both teams set about getting on top from the first whistle but it was Spilsby who started the brightest with many fine balls being put through to the front line. Unfortunately none of these chances were converted and Coningsby made Spilsby pay with a hopeful strike which ended in a goal.

Credit to Spilsby as they kept doing the fine work and the efforts eventually paid off with a fine through ball from Lathen Tuplin which found Steven Marvell running through to score.

But a lapse in concentration in Spilsby's defence meant Coningsby were allowed another strike at goal which again found the back of the net.

A reminder of how well Spilsby had attacked was all that was required at the interval and in a confident mood the home side set about getting back into the game.

More opportunities came and after some changes Spilsby eventually grabbed the equaliser with Gary McGilloway taking advantage of a more forward position.

A well-deserved draw sees Spilsby restore some pride in their performance and hope this could start a revival in fortunes.

Next for Spilsby is an away trip to Holbeach Town in the Sports cup.
